Meet The Jefferies

The Family
Hello! We're the Jefferies. A couple in our 30's, married 11 years (6/2/2006), both born and raised in the beautiful state of Utah.

Rodd has his degree in Spanish Education, but has worked in the Satellite Television industry for the past 10 years as a Technical Manager and Trainer. I, Ashley, have my degree in Accounting, am currently pursing a MAcc/MBA degree, and have plans to become a CPA soon thereafter. I have an accounting practice doing bookkeeping, payroll, and consulting for small businesses.

We met at Southern Utah University, when paired to dance together on the Ballroom Dance Team. Rodd will be the first to tell you that I asked him out first, then the rest was history... we were married about 9 months later in the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, Utah.

We have three feline fur babies:

Bella
This is Bella. She was found near my mother's house as a kitten and I convinced Rodd to let me take her home (he is allergic to cats...). We originally named her Bell, because of the bell on her collar, but it's turned into Bella over the years. She's our pretty Calico and only girl. She's 7 years old, sassy and independent.

Achilles
This big boy is Achilles. He's a 6 year old Snowboot (they are a really interesting breed, read more here). Rodd picked him out because he wanted a white kitty and was originally mostly white, except for his ears, tail, and some marks on his heels. He's our alpha, and loves attention from his mom.

Trouble
Our unexpected addition is Trouble. We thought we were done, but he came along and needed a home. We'd planned on fostering him until we found him another home, but he stole Rodd's hears... so we had to keep him. He's a 3-year old Russian Blue, is a great hunter, and loves to snuggle with his dad.

How this all came about
Rodd and I have had a love for the temple from our youth (long before we knew each other). Early on in our marriage, Rodd mentioned he had a goal to visit every LDS temple. We love to travel, and have been seeking them out in each new place we visit. After visiting our 49th temple (Pape'ete, French Polynesia), we counted 49 temples left in the US and Canada that we hadn't been to yet. How could we visit those temples affordably, and soon?

At the time we also both realized that we'd been expecting life to slow down for quite a while. We are both very dedicated to our jobs and stay very busy, but there were times we were missing out on things that mattered to us. We discussed wanting a CHANGE. Life had gotten too busy, but what were we going to do about it?

After some discussion, we decided to simplify and cut back. Less STUFF, less WORK, more SIMPLICITY, more LIFE. We found that for us, a Motorhome would probably be best for transitioning our lives, fur babies, and businesses to the road, and bought our first one three weeks later (October 2016)! From there it was a matter of what next, and when do we leave?!

With my first semester of graduate school starting January of 2017, we figured it needed to be after that, so... May first! January was the month of goals, what did we want 2017 to look like? February was planning what we needed to do and how. March - we started preparing! Posting most of our furniture on the local classifieds and having it all sell within a couple of hours was

As we've visited the temples in each new place we've gone, I've realized that it's really about making the temple our focus.
